Project Long Hair, Don't Care.

well hellllo ladies & gents. i feel like it's been so long since been here...therefore let me catch you up...

i'm at home for the week and i'm so pumped about it! getting to spend the week with my fam and hangin with my fave 6 yr old dude! his momma is still in school so i'm hangin with him. today we went and played football with some TCU players in TCU's indoor field. such a cool experience.
such wonderful dudes.

john is at the collegiate bass championship this week in florence, alabama on lake pickwick. he is unfortunately having rough luck. they have 3 days of pre-fishing and 2 days of tournament on thurs and fri. well...monday his motor blew up after 4 hours of fishing. spent tons of money to get it fixed and then on day 2 back on the water, something else happened and now his motor is messed up again and his boat is unusable. he's having to borrow a buddies boat so i'm hoping all the bad luck will turn around and help him win!!! check out standings and such if you want -- pretty cool -- people from all over the country are there. also, if you know anyone that wants to buy him a new boat or motor, that'd be cool. let me know ;)

&& now to my main point. i have come to the realization that just cause i have a smaller body, doesn't mean i can just do as i please. people, it's all about bein healthy. my girl, braidee, has been getting on to all of us girls for years about bein in shape and eating right. so by watching and learning, i've learned how to eat healthy and she set up a work out regime for my sister & i to do (john's gunna do it with me too..!!) and so far it's kickin my butt. which is awesome. take care of your selves people. care about your body so you can continue to stay healthy for longer. don't just do it for your looks and for other people, do it for you.with that, i also am really working on growing my hair out. i love that it's getting longer, but i need some advice.
*bed head shampoo & conditioner
*spray in some it's a 10 spray.
check this stuff outttt!
*i let my hair predominately air dry so i don't have to blow dry so much. use a lil heat tamer spray prior.
*spray some treseme heat tamer spray to flat iron it.

but anywho, if ya'll have some good product advice, pllllease share. i'll def try whatever anyone suggests. getting healthy && growin my hair and all that is really rockin for me. i'm calling it "project long hair, don't care." follow the movement ladies and gents.

anywhooo, happy summer ladies && gents.

xoxo,
april joy :)

My mom is so cool.

Granted it's a day late, but I would like to express my love for my mother. I know that a lot of people love their mothers, but there are some moms who aren't as fortunate to give to their children as my mother is. My parents don't make a lot of money, but my mom strives to give to my sister and I as much as she can. Not only does she strive to give, but she strives to teach us valuable lessons. The most important lesson she has taught me is to never ever give up. No matter what struggle or what adventure my mom has been faced with, she always does whatever she can to succeed and make it to the finish line. She's an outstanding woman and has truly inspired me to be a successful woman. I couldn't be more thankful to have her as my mother and I'm so proud to be her daughter.

Isn't she suuuch a cute lady?? Good thing I got her genes.

I think a lot of my mom's morals and great wisdom came from my sweet sweet grandma; whom I'm sad to say I lost this year. It was kind of sad not be able to go see her or call her and tell her happy mother's day, but I know this outstanding woman was looking down on us. This woman by far was the most outstanding woman I have ever met. Mother of 4, outstanding cook, awesome farm lady, and could take care of anything she put her mind to. She was the rock of our family and the soul of our family. I really miss her and think of her often, but I'm so thankful that I got to spend 22 great years with her and I'm so thankful for all the things she taught me.

Only a classy lady like that can still pull off a bubble shirt. Truly outstanding & beautiful woman. That ladies and gentleman, is my Grandma Berry!

In conclusion, always tell your mother thank you. Some are not as fortunate to have a mother or leading lady figure in their lives. So make they know how much you love them and appreciate all they do for you.

Peace & blessings,
April Joy

Finals.

As we close in on this thing called finals, I cannot help but to be overwhelmed with excitement as SUMMER is upon us. Some have already started their summer while mine will begin on Thursday immediately following my earth science final. I hate it...can you tell?

As I become excited, I'd like to share some things I'll be doing...

White Water Rafting in COLORADO.
(I don't know these people.)

Backpacking in ARIZONA.
(Don't know them either.)

Texas Rangers game at White Sox Stadium in CHICAGO.

(Sox going down. Watch for me on TV.)

These are just some of the larger things I will be doing. Get ready for some serious adventure stories. There will be lots and they will be fun. In the mean time, I had a terrific weekend. Got to see my DZ Big, Amber &  her husband. Always such a treat. I love them. Also got to celebrate with John's sister (Maren) for her birthday along with some old friends who I love.

Anywho, ladies and gents, hope the end of your semester or whatever it may be is going well, you rock your tests, and get ready to party, cause summmmer time is here!

Obsesssssions.

So for starters, I love the fact that my first post got quite a few looks. I'm off to a good start and I'm feeling pretty good about this blog thing. So ladies and gentleman, keep reading and share with your friends. I promise my life will give you a good read. So for tonight on this late night, I would like to share my current obsessions with you....

  1. Gilmore Girls -- now granted it's an old show, but every time I watch, it gets better and better. I own all 7 seasons on DVD and I continue to watch the entire series, every season, every episode...over and over. I finish the series, wait a couple months and start it over again. If you've never watched, you should look into watching it. Rory & Loralei create a life that just about every teeenager (or twenty something) girl wishes she could have with her mother. There are so many funny bits and funny plot lines....seriously, takes me out of my real world and brings me to a better place. CHECK IT OUT.
  2. Skinny Iced Caramel Machiato -- officially obsessed. Now granted I'm a college gal and its rough for me to afford a $4 coffee every day from Starbucks, but ohhh yummy. If you're looking for a yummy coffee, check it out...110 calories.
  3. Summertime -- so many opportunities for adventure. Don't be a dud this summer, make a plan and do something. So far I'm looking at stealing a nomb (not sure on the spelling), going white water rafting in CO, backpacking in AZ, TEXAS RANGERS game @ White Sox stadium, 4th of July in Iowa, Memorial Day in Fredricksburg....and that's just the start. Seriously...do something with your life.
  4. Pinterest -- I really think I have an addiction. I cannot wait for summertime so I can do lots of decor activities and lots of baking and cooking. John will be so proud once I start making all those recipes. If you're bored, check out Pinterest. That simple people. Get your invitation if you haven't been there already.
  5. Jewel -- my friends this is my precious ride. My sweet '05 silver Hyundai Tuscon. I love her and I really always have, but this summer I will be doing lots of traveling in her and we will be very close friends by the end of the summer. Make sure you take care of your vehicle ladies and gentleman. It's important. Therefore you can make your car last a lil longer & you can save a lil gas. DO IT!
Alright peeps, current obsession for the day are over. Let me just tell you, all good things. But after this weekend, I will have some serious adventures to share with you. Get excited.

Much love ladies & gents.

Hey ya'll!

Welcome to my first post! I found The Kentucky Priss BlogSpot and fell in love. Been following her for quite some time now and decided I had to start my own blog. I'm an early twenty's college girl from the great state of TEXAS. I'm from the big city of Fort Worth and moved to the small town of Stephenville to go to school at the great TARLETON STATE UNIVERSITY. I've been here five years...doing this school thing on my own terms. It's taking me awhile but I'm enjoying the ride. I'm not a huge fashionista but my bestfriends are so I like to pretend like I am. So, I can't help you with fashion, but I sure can tell you about all the great things in life and share all of my awesome adventures with you. And I promise...everyday in my life is an adventure!

I have a tremendous family...sweet baby sister, awesome mom and pops. Can't wait to celebrate mother's day and father's day. My parents spoil me so it's nice to spoil them every once in awhile.
Mommy, sister ((Lisa)), Pops, & Me
Precious Family, HUH??

My boyfriend is such a cutie. He's such a country boy, born & raised in PO DUNK, AMERICA. Not really sure how or why he puts up with me, but I'm quite fond of him. He's the next greatest ag. teacher in America. Get ready world! He's a die hard bass fisherman...getting ready to go pro. So serious. Anyone understand the world of fishing? I don't quite get it, but I'm slowly getting there.
This ladies and gentleman is my precious coon-eyed boyfriend, John.

&& last but most certainly not least, my friends. Who are really more like a family. We're so crazy and so psycho. It's silly. We are all still in college, except 1 of them, she grew up really quick. And she's getting married. The first of us, so proud of her and love her man. But anywhoo...we like to travel (understatement of the year), get a lil crazy (second understatement of the year), and basically we just love each other, support each other through every endeavor we take, and we love each other like sisters. I couldn't be more blessed than to have such an awesome group of girls in my life.
Kara, Braidee, Emily, Karla, Linds, Kristi, Kellie & Myself. MISSING: Kirby. But anywho...at the LJT Music Festival. ((Do yourself a favor and go to this crazy place. You'll love every single second of it.)) Aren't they some seriously gorgeous girls?? I'm so blessed to have them in my life.

ANYWAYYYYS....A lil more about myself....I was originally a Special Education major but recently switched to Child & Family Studies cause I wanna be an Early Intervention Specialist. If you don't know what that means, look it up. Anywho, I work in the Scholarship Office with some interesting characters && I LOVE THEM. Hilarious group of women. I babysit two of the cutest lil diva's in the world. & I work for the Texas Rangers. It's a secret job, so stay curious & be jealous. Side note, I LOVE THE TEXAS RANGERS MORE THAN LIFE.

Anyways, that's my first spill. Just getting ya'll warmed up for whats to come and introduce myself a bit. Share with your friends and start reading. Come back and visit, ya'll.
